Overview
The Tourism Working Group was officially established as an independent Group after the 2005 Annual VBF. The Group includes travel operators, hotel operators, airlines, real estate developers, and law firms. It has built a strong relationship with the Vietnam Administration of Tourism (VNAT), and has used the expertise of its members to successfully advocate for the tourism industry in Vietnam. Such efforts have coincided with the government’s recent acknowledgement of the role of tourism in the economy, and the empowerment of VNAT to become a Ministry (to be merged with the Ministry of Culture and Sports) - with the former VNAT Director General, Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh, promoted to Minister.
The Group was initially chaired by Mr. Baron Ah Moo, Director of Indochina Capital.
